Paying for Psychotherapy

Using any insurance for coverage of your therapy costs is an important decision to consider carefully. Whether through the Plans for which I am paneled, or other insurance options, your decision to submit a claim brings benefits as well as certain issues to think about. On the plus side, your personal cash expenditure will be less. However, using your insurance means that your privacy will be compromised, as I am required to provide a diagnosis and, in some instances, treatment records, plans, or updates in order for the insurer to continue to reimburse the services.

I am currently paneled with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois (PPO and Blue Choice Plans). If you are insured under these Plans, and wish to use your coverage, I will file your claims for you.

If you have a different private health insurance, we can still find out if you would benefit from Out of Network Psychotherapy coverage and get reimbursed by your health insurance when working with me. I will be happy to provide the appropriate documentation needed for submittal to the insurer for possible reimbursement. You should be aware that your insurer is under no obligation to reimburse for my services, and reserves the right to deny any claim for services.

My standard fee is $180 per session. Fees are payable at the time of each appointment unless we are submitting claims under the plans for which I am paneled. In some cases I may adjust my fee based on our discussions. We will discuss fee payment, fee adjustment, and the use of insurance benefits at the first session.

All counseling sessions are 55 to 60 minutes in length unless otherwise specified.
